The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the evening of April 20, 2023, at the intersection of Louisa and North Robertson Streets and left one person dead and two injured.

At about 10:36 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two crashed vehicles, one containing two subjects and the other containing one subject.

The driver of the twice occupied vehicle, an adult male, was found to have sustained a gunshot wound and was transported via EMS to a local hospital. The passenger in that vehicle, an adult female, was also found to have sustained a gunshot wound and was declared deceased on scene.

The single subject inside of the second vehicle, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. This individual was not found to have sustained any gunshot wound injuries.

Investigation is ongoing as to the possibility of additional subjects being involved in this incident.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
