NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (April 20, 2023) in the 6100 block of North Claiborne Avenue that left two people dead.

At about 8:08 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male and a juvenile male subjects down in the parking lot of the location and both having sustained gunshot wounds. The adult victim was declared deceased on scene. The juvenile victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
