NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (April 15, 2023) in the 1100 block of Bartholomew Street that left one juvenile teen dead and two injured.

At about 1:03 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old juvenile male and a 15-year-old juvenile female on scene and both having sustained gunshot wounds. The male victim was declared deceased on scene, while the female victim was transported to a local hospital via EMS.

Investigators also learned that a 17-year-old juvenile male gunshot wound victim in this incident arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
