NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Gerard T. Hill (black male, DOB: 11-01-1955) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on April 4, 2024, in the 500 block of Saint Maurice Avenue.

At about 7:26 p.m. on April 4, NOPD Fifth District detectives responded to a reported aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers observed an adult female who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. New Orleans EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was later declared deceased. The incident was then reclassified as a homicide.

Through investigation, a subject later identified as Hill was located and detained on scene for further questioning. As the investigation progressed, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Hill as the perpetrator. Hill was arrested and subsequently booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300.
