NOPD Makes Arrest In 2023 Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested a suspect in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on June 25, 2023, in the 8000 block of Old Gentilly Road.

This morning (April 17, 2024), members of the NOPD Special Operations Division arrested Ted Lee Jordan Jr., (Black male, DOB: 02-01-1976) in connection with this investigation.

On June 25, 2023, Seventh District officers responded to a call of a death on Old Gentilly Road. Upon arrival, they found the victim dead in his bed.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 84-year-old Sterling Bell and  determined preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Ted Lee Jordan Jr. as the perpetrator in this incident.

Jordan was taken into custody this morning in the 1700 block of Old Gentilly Road. He has been booked into the Orleans Justice Center on charges of second-degree murder.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

In response to several arrests made by NOPD this week, including apprehensions in the Wits Inn homicide and the Royal Street Mardi Gras night shooting, Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says, "These arrests should tell you, that if you pull a trigger in New Orleans, we will find you."

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300.
