NOPD Arrests Suspect in First District Attempted Murder

The NOPD has arrested Brian Anthony Clark (DOB: 4/5/1994) in the investigation of an attempted murder that occurred this morning (April 20, 2024) in the 1900 block of Canal Street.

Around 7:30 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male and an adult female suffering from injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The two victims were transported to a local hospital.

A juvenile female was also on scene and was not injured by the vehicle.

Through investigation, investigators determined Clark allegedly used a red 2023 Ford F-150 to run over the victims intentionally. Clark then fled in the vehicle, which was reportedly stolen.

NOPD then obtained an arrest warrant for Clark on two counts of attempted first-degree murder as well as one count of simple criminal damage to property, hit & run driving, child desertion, and illegal possession of stolen things.

First District officers apprehended Clark at 6:19 p.m. in the area of Cleveland Avenue and South Claiborne Avenue, and the vehicle was recovered. He will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call First District detectives at (504) 658-6010 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111.
