The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (April 9, 2022) in the 3700 block of Herschel Street that left one person deceased.
At about 4:18 a.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male down near a residence a short distance from the scene of occurrence. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
