NOPD Arrests Suspect on Firearm, Narcotics Charges in First District

On April 25, 2022, NOPD First District officers arrested Bryan Cabrera (pictured, Hispanic male, DOB: 03-30-1996) on narcotics and firearm charges stemming from an incident in the 4000 block of Tulane Avenue.

At about 2:00 a.m., First District officers responded to a hit-and-run vehicle accident at the location and located a gray Jeep Cherokee that had appeared to have struck multiple vehicles in the immediate area. Officers observed the driver of the Jeep, later identified as Cabrera, flee the vehicle on foot. Officers pursued the subject on foot and apprehended him nearby. A subsequent search of the subject’s vehicle revealed a rifle, multiple clear plastic bags of marijuana, firearm ammunition and paraphernalia commonly used in the distribution of illegal narcotics.

Cabrera was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on charges of illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics and for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010.
