NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on April 3, 2021 at the intersection of Banks Street and Carrollton Avenue and claimed the life of one person.

At about 11:06 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound(s). The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
