The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred today (April 1, 2020) in the 14300 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
At about 2:35 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident at the location. Upon further investigation, investigators determined that a silver Buick sedan was traveling east on Chef Menteur Highway when, for undetermined reasons, the vehicle crossed into the raised median and struck a gray GMC pickup truck traveling westbound. The impact causes the sedan to flip onto its roof.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the decedent and determine cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
