NOPD is investigating a homicide that took place near the intersection of Westlake Drive and Dwyer Road.
Tonight, April 18, 2019 at around 8:41 p.m., Seventh district officers were dispatched to the location to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, they found an adult female lying in the street. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
