NOPD Arrests Subjects Found in Illegal Possession of Handguns in Eighth District

The NOPD arrested three individuals who were found to be in illegal possession of handguns in unrelated incidents while on Bourbon Street in the Eighth District.

Those arrested include:

  • Gregory Davis (pictured above at left, DOB: 06-21-1971), arrested on April 21, 2019. At or about 4:20 a.m., NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade officers were patrolling near the 600 Block of Bourbon Street when the officers noticed a bulge under a subject’s shirt that created an “L” shape on the left side of his body, near his waist. Upon further investigation, the subject – later identified as Davis – was found to have a completely concealed and loaded handgun in his possession, along with an additional magazine containing live rounds.

  • Onija Love (pictured above at center, DOB: 08-14-1990), arrested on April 21, 2019. At or about 11:40 p.m., NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade officers were patrolling in the 500 Block of Bourbon Street when the officers noticed an “L” shaped bulge protruding from the subject’s right hip underneath his sweater. The officers believed the subject was in possession of a concealed firearm. Upon further investigation, the subject was found to have a completely concealed and loaded handgun in the subject’s waistband.
  • Kelvin Gregory (pictured above at right, DOB: 10-04-1996), arrested on April 22, 2019. At or about 1:00 a.m., NOPD Eighth District Bourbon Promenade officers were patrolling near the intersection of Bourbon and St. Peter streets when they noticed a male subject wearing a tight-fitting black zip-up jacket with an “L” shaped bulge protruding from under the jacket. The officers believed the subject – later identified as Gregory – to be in possession of a concealed firearm. Upon further investigation, the subject was found to have a completely concealed and loaded handgun in the subject’s waistband, as well as an additional loaded magazine in his pants pocket.

In each instance, the subject was found to not be in possession of a concealed carry permit for the respective firearm.

Each subject was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
