ARRESTED: Suspect Apprehended by NOPD for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

NOPD officers have arrested Jimyl Hatfield (DOB: 09/22/1999) after he was found in possession of a vehicle that was reported stolen during an armed robbery that occurred in the 10000 block of Seawood Street.

On April 13, 2019 at or around 1:29 a.m., the victim was sitting inside of her black Infiniti Q50 bearing Louisiana license plate #151CAG when an unknown dark gray Honda SUV pulled up next to the victim.

An unknown male subject reportedly exited the rear driver's side door of the Honda and approached the victim’s vehicle, at which time the subject allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and ordered her to get out of the vehicle. The victim complied and exited the vehicle, leaving her cellphone and purse inside. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

At or around 5:15 p.m. the same day, Seventh District officers observed Hatfield at a gas station located near Dwyer Road and Crowder Boulevard paying for gas for the victim’s stolen vehicle. Hatfield advised officers that he was in the vehicle and was being driven by an acquaintance to another location.

The subject was arrested and transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center where he was booked with illegal possession of stolen things.

Anyone with any additional information regarding this incident should contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
