Suspect Arrested for Hit & Run, Resisting Arrest and Illegal Carrying of a Firearm

Officers in the Seventh District arrested Michael Brumfield (DOB: 10/19/87) today for his involvement in a hit & run, reckless operation of motor vehicle, resisting arrest, illegal carrying of firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

The incident happened on April 17, 2018. At about 1 p.m., Seventh District Officers observed a scooter operated by the below- pictured subject blocking traffic on the road near the intersection of Curran Boulevard and Masefield Street. Officers approached the operator of the scooter to check and see if the motorist was in distress. When officers approached the subject, he fled on his scooter, lost control and then struck a parked vehicle. As officers ran toward the subject to render aid, the subject pulled out a firearm and began to flee on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended by officers without further incident. Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered that Brumfield was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He was booked accordingly.
