The NOPD has arrested Elbert Comeaux (DOB: 08-25-2000), Jacarlus Cook (DOB: 03-29-1995) and Dontrell Stewart (DOB 11-01-997) in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the early hours today (April 2, 2018) in the 600 block of Bourbon Street.

The victim told Eighth District officers that at about 2:46 a.m., he was walking in front of a bar in the 700 block of Bourbon Street when he saw a known female, who did not want to speak to him. The victim said he then entered the bar to use the restroom. Upon exiting, the victim said, he was approached by an unknown black male in a black t-shirt who reportedly told the victim not to talk to his girlfriend. At that time, the victim stated, another black male approached and demanded the victim hand over everything in his pockets or that he would kill the victim. The victim stated he observed a handgun in the second subject’s waistband. The victim said that he then ran away from the situation, at which time he was then punched from behind by the first subject and knocked to the ground. The victim stated the first subject went through his pockets and took his wallet, containing cash, and his cellphone.

A description of the subjects was provided to officers with the Eighth District’s Bourbon Street Promenade Unit, who were familiar with the subjects as they had seen them earlier in the evening. The officers subsequently located the subjects and, upon approaching them, the subjects reportedly ran down St. Peter Street to the 900 block, where they were apprehended.

The victim positively identified the suspects as the individuals who committed the armed robbery, describing Comeaux as the subject who had punched him, Cook as the subject who possessed the handgun and a third subject, later identified as Stewart, who allegedly chased the victim and tripped him.

All three suspects were arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. Comeaux was booked for armed robbery and simple possession of marijuana, while Cook and Stewart were each booked for armed robbery.
