NOPD Searching for Vehicle Reported Stolen, Suspects in Carjacking on Panola Street

The NOPD is seeking information to assist in locating a vehicle reported stolen in a carjacking incident that occurred on April 5, 2017 in the 7700 block of Panola Street.

The victims – a male and female – told police that at about 10 p.m., they were in the area seated in the parked vehicle – a black 2006 Nissan Sentra bearing Louisiana license plate # PYD357 – when two unknown black males wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts approached, one to each side of the vehicle. The suspect at the driver’s side demanded the male victim exit the vehicle, while pointing his fingers in a gun-style gesture and also demanding the male victim’s cell phone. The driver complied, as the first suspect allegedly told the second suspected to “get out the gun.” The second suspect ordered the female victim to exit the vehicle, to which the victim complied. The second suspect then reportedly tapped the female victim on the right shoulder with an unknown heavy object and demanded her cell phone, to which she complied. Both suspects then entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspects were described as dark-skinned black males, both in their early 20s, standing about 5’9” to 5’10”. They were also described as clean shaven.

The vehicle reported stolen was also described as having its rear bumper slightly hanging off.

A photo is included of a vehicle similar to the color, make and model of the vehicle reported stolen in this incident. The image is not a photo of the actual vehicle involved in this incident.
