NOPD Makes Early Morning Gun, Narcotics Arrest

NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Clarence Jackson (DOB: 9/6/1991) yesterday (April 27) for possession of narcotics and a firearm.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., detectives William Knowles, Elliot Gray, Jason Collins, and Mark Schmidt were on foot patrol in the 600 block of Iberville Street. They observed what they believed was a narcotics transaction between an unknown black male, later identified as Jackson, and a second unknown black male inside a business. The detectives entered the establishment and identified themselves as police officers, and Jackson dropped his backpack and fled into the men’s room. Detectives apprehended Jackson in the men’s room and recovered the discarded backpack, which contained a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 firearm and assorted narcotics.

Jackson was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon while in possession of illegal narcotics, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule I CDS, and possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule IV CDS.

Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
