NOPD Investigating a Homicide on Bourbon Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (April 4, 2017) in the 800 block of Bourbon Street.

At about 9 a.m., Eighth District officers responded to a wellness call at a residence in the area, later learning that an individual was inside of the residence. When no one responded to knocks on the door of the residence, NOPD Special Operations Division officers entered the residence. Upon entry, officers discovered an unresponsive male and a second male subject who were identified as roommates who lived in the residence. The unresponsive male was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male subject was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for precautionary medical examination.

Investigation into this incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
