NOPD Arrests Two Suspects on Drug Charges in First District

The NOPD (April 13, 2017) arrested two individuals today on drug charges after two alleged drug transactions along Ulloa Street.

At about 10:30 a.m., First District officers conducting surveillance saw an individual, identified as Isiah Miller (DOB: 07-25-1987) engaged in an alleged drug transaction at the intersection of Ulloa Street and South Scott Street. As Miller and the second individual parted ways, walking in opposite directions, officers attempted to stop both individuals. However, Miller eluded capture. The second individual, identified as Clem Brumdidge, was found in possession of two crack cocaine pipes with burned cocaine residue. Brumdidge was issued a municipal summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and released without further incident.

At about 12:40 p.m., First District officers again observed Miller walking on Ulloa Street near South Cortez Street, when Miller allegedly began speaking to the driver of a black Infiniti vehicle, later identified as Gregory Givens (DOB: 04-22-1961). Miller then reportedly entered the passenger side of the vehicle, which then traveled for a short distance on Ulloa Street before stopping on the side of the street. After a few seconds, Miller allegedly exited the vehicle and began to walk on South Scott Street, toward Tulane Avenue. As the vehicle continued on Ulloa Street, turning onto South Carrollton Avenue, First District officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the stop, officers observed Miller fleeing toward Interstate 10. Soon after, Miller was located and taken into custody on the campus of Xavier University.

A search of Givens' vehicle led officers to find three bags containing a total of approximately 32.90 grams of crack cocaine, six bags containing a total of approximately 12.40 grams of powdered cocaine and 29 bags containing a total of 24.40 grams of marijuana. NOPD Canine Officers also assisted in the investigation.

Upon further investigation, officers learned that Givens claimed Miller had attempted to purchase crack cocaine from Givens, but did not have enough money and exited the vehicle. Miller claimed that he purchased drugs from Givens, but discarded the drugs when he saw police.

Givens was arrested and booked into Central Lockup on charges including possession of both marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute, as well as for traffic infractions.

Miller was arrested and booked on charges of resisting arrest by flight and attempt to purchase contraband.

Both subjects were also charged with parole violations, as both were found to be on probation for previous convictions.
