French Quarter Taskforce Officer Arrest Suspect for Missing Court on Attempted Murder Charge

The NOPD's French Quarter Taskforce arrested Everett Williams (DOB: 9/2/1965) on Monday (April 3) for attempted murder after he was seen harassing tourists in the 800 block of Bourbon Street.

At about 5:12 p.m., Detective Paul Johnson, who was working a French Quarter Taskforce Detail, received a tip from a citizen that was using the French Quarter Taskforce app. The citizen told police they saw two subjects panhandling and harassing tourists on Bourbon Street. The anonymous complainant also provided a photograph of the two subjects via app. Detective Johnson observed both subjects in the location and conducted a name check of both individuals.

Throughout the course of the investigation, Detectives learned Williams had a Court Capias warrant for attempted murder by cutting which occurred on May 8, 2016. Williams was arrested without incident and transported into Central Lockup.

Anyone with any other information on this suspect is asked to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
