NOPD took a significant step toward reaching its goal of meeting the requirements of the federal consent decree it has voluntarily operated under since January of 2013. 

The checkpoint will be in operation from 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 through Friday, December 13, 2019 at 5 a.m.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the NOPD is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on a high-visibility Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign from November 25-December 1, 2019, to work toward reducing the number of fatalities that occur when drivers and passengers fail to buckle up. If they spot you, officers will pull you over and issue a ticket.

The NOPD continues to be on the right track as it works to meet the standards set within its federally mandated consent decree, according to survey results compiled by federal monitors.
