The NOPD has arrested Torin R. Jenkins (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-14-1994) in the investigation of a homicide on May 29, 2021 at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and North Roman Street.

At about 11:03 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to the 1700 block of Franklin Avenue for a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a female victim in a vehicle unresponsive and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Jenkins as the perpetrator in this incident. A warrant was obtained for Jenkins’ arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.

Jenkins was found to be currently incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Prison on other unrelated charges. He will be rebooked on the additional murder charge.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Homicide Unit Detective Maggie Darling at 504-658-5300.
