NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspect in Fifth District Attempted Murder

The NOPD arrested Willard Walker Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 09-26-1958) shortly after the commission of an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred on April 7, 2022, in the 5100 block of Saint Claude Avenue.

At about 7:20 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. While responding to the scene, officers learned that two adult female victims suffering from gunshot wounds had arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance.

Through investigation, officers quickly developed and positively identified Walker as the perpetrator in this incident. Walker was located at a residence in the 5400 block of Marais Street, where he was placed under arrest without incident. During his arrest, Walker was found to be in possession of a firearm that was reported stolen out of Baton Rouge, La.

Walker was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
