NOPD's Director of Analytics Benjamin Horwitz was awarded the Bureau of Governmental Research Excellence In Government 2018: Innovation Award for his fresh and creative approach to data management and crime analysis following the federal consent decree.

Superintendent Michael Harrison, along with leaders from the NOFD and NOEMS, joined Mayor Mitch Landrieu today to update the public on the results of major investments in public safety, and on the success of a strong crime-fighting year for the men and women of the New Orleans Police Department.

This past weekend, NOPD was out in force in Philadelphia showing off their best practices at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

The NOPD is inviting the public to attend district-centric meetings aimed at providing citizens with updates on the department's progress in meeting the requirements of the NOPD Consent Decree.

After a challenging start to the year for the NOPD Homicide Unit, the rate of homicides being solved is now on the increase.  The solve rate — which includes cases cleared by arrests, warrants and exceptions —is at 57 percent, compared to five months ago when the solve rate sat at 27 percent.
