NOPD DWI Saturation Patrol Results

NOPD's Traffic Division conducted proactive impaired driving patrols yesterday, September 17, 2026.

The operation focused on the area from Canal and North Rampart Streets to Saint Claude Avenue and Press Street.  The area patrolled was chosen due to citizen reports of traffic safety concerns and impaired driving incidents.

The results of the operation were:

  • More than 100 traffic citations issued
  • Two DWI Arrests
  • One traffic fugitive arrest
  • Two Court Capias arrests
  • One municipal fugitive arrest
  • Two vehicles towed for no insurance

Traffic officers maintained a strong, visible presence in the area that not only resulted in arrests and citations but also sent a clear message: Unsafe and impaired driving will not be tolerated in our city.

"Strategic enforcement saves lives,” NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said. “Our officers are committed to protecting drivers, passengers, and pedestrians through proactive patrols and targeted traffic operations.”
