NOPD and Law Enforcement Partners Make Seven Arrests in Operation Take Back

The New Orleans Police Department, working alongside with Louisiana State Police, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Probation and Parole and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office carried out a coordinated operation Saturday, September 12, 2026, aimed at stopping planned illegal street takeover activity before it could unfold.

The operation resulted in seven arrests, 14 vehicle stops, 14 citations, two firearms seized and four vehicles towed or impounded. Officers also issued eight warnings.

“This was about prevention,” Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said. “We knew what was being planned, we prepared for it, and our partners came together with a unified strategy. Success isn’t just measured by arrests. Preventing dangerous activity before it happens is a win for this city.”

Those arrested face a range of state and municipal charges, including reckless operation, illegal speed contests and stunt activity, aggravated flight and firearm offenses.
