NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that was reproted today (September 23, 2025) in the 300 block of North Rampart Street, in the First District.

At about 12:20 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of an unclassified death at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male subject inside of a hotel room. The victim was declared deceased on scene. Upon further investigation, the subject was found to have sustained possible blunt force trauma injuries. The signal for the incident was then changed to a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and determine official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
