NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (September 27, 2025) in the 3200 block of Dumaine Street, in the First District.

At about 7:55 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a reported shooting the location. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive adult male having sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where they were subsequently declared deceased. The signal for the incident was then changed to a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
