The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analytics Unit for the period of August 24-30, 2025.

Notable arrests made
During the listed week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):
- On August 28, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Timothy Hall (black male, DOB: 05-04-1999) in connection with the NOPD’s investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 24, 2025, in the 600 block of Iberville Street. Hall was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.
- On August 28, the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad, the U.S. Marshals and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Ra’Quine Butler (black male, DOB: 09-25-2007) in connection with the NOPD’s investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 12, 2025, in the 2100 block of Allen Street. Butler was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to Orleans Parish to face two charges of second-degree murder.
- On August 28, the NOPD’s Homicide Section arrested Helmer Valeriano-Ordonez (Hispanic male, DOB: 10-23-2001) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on August 9, 2025, in the 7800 block of Almonaster Avenue. Valeriano-Ordonez was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

Gun seizures
As of August 24, the NOPD in 2025 had seized 1,236 firearms in criminal investigations, a 21-percent decrease compared to 1,567 such seizures made during the same period in 2024.
