Today (September 4, 2025), the NOPD, Louisiana State Police and multiple law enforcement partners announced the results of the monthlong multi-agency Operation Golden Eagle 2025.
Agencies joining the NOPD and Louisiana State Police in this operation include the FBI, ATF, U.S. Marshals Service and Louisiana Probation & Parole.
“We are stronger together,” NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said, “When we unite behind a shared mission to save lives, we make an impact.
The results were announced during a press conference held at NOPD Headquarters today, where Kirkpatrick was joined by Louisiana State Police Col. Robert Hodges, FBI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrell and representatives from other partner agencies.
Operation Golden Eagle 2025 is a powerful example of what coordinated law enforcement looks like, Kirkpatrick said of the annual operation. The operation works to remove illegal guns and illegal narcotics from New Orleans neighborhoods, to hold violent offenders accountable and to help to restore safety to local communities.
Additionally, Kirkpatrick also thanked Murrell and Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams, citing their work as being pivotal in building and prosecuting cases handled during this operation.
“District Attorney Williams and Attorney General Murrell have stood with law enforcement to ensure that violent and repeat offenders are held accountable through meaningful prosecution,” Kirkpatrick said. “This kind of partnership is what makes progress possible.”
Over the past four weeks, Operation Golden Eagle saw these agencies work tirelessly to target the drivers of violent crime and illegal narcotics. As a result, Operation Golden Eagle has produced impressive and impactful results:
• 60 felony arrests
• 38 misdemeanor arrests
• 44 narcotics arrests
• 18 fugitive arrests
• 35 firearm-related arrests
• 39 illegal firearms seized
• 35 citations issued
• 19 search warrants executed
• 31 narcotics seizure events
• 3 stolen vehicles recovered
• 132 traffic stops conducted
• Estimated $39,424 in street-value narcotics removed
• $9,395 in cash seized from illegal drug proceeds
Illegal narcotics recovered during this operation include:
• 4.1 kilograms of marijuana
• 41 grams of cocaine
• 31 grams of methamphetamine
• 1,251 grams of Tapentadol
• 53 grams of fentanyl and 89 fentanyl tablets
“These are not just numbers—they are real interventions that save lives and protect communities,” Kirkpatrick said.” Every gun taken off the street, every dose of fentanyl seized, every violent offender removed from a neighborhood represents a safer New Orleans.”
Kirkpatrick added that the operation was about precision, collaboration and commitment.
“It is proof that when local, state, and federal agencies work together,” she said, “When we combine our intelligence, resources and resolve, we can make a measurable difference. To the officers, agents, troopers, detectives and analysts who put in the long hours, who hit the pavement and put themselves at risk, your courage and professionalism are the backbone of this effort. I am proud to serve alongside you.”
Kirkpatrick also thanked the residents of New Orleans for their assistance in this operation.
“Your tips, your cooperation and your trust made this work possible,” she said of the public’s aid. “You are essential to our success. You are the reason we do this.”
While Operation Golden Eagle has ended, this does not mean it will be end of such operations moving forward, Kirkpatrick said.
“It’s not the end—it’s a blueprint for how we move forward,” she said. “We will continue to apply relentless pressure on those who bring violence to our streets.”
