Seventeen-year-old Carlos Taylor, who escaped from the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center in New Orleans on Monday has been captured in Baton Rouge.
Taylor was arrested without incident this afternoon (September 26, 2024) by U.S. Marshals who were aided in tracking him down by NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS).
Taylor was arrested on charges of simple carjacking and simple escape. He was already facing charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property.
He is currently in custody in Baton Rouge and will be brought back to New Orleans to face those charges.
The investigation into his escape remains active and ongoing. No further details are available.
