NOPD Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred this evening (September 30, 2022) on Chef Menteur Highway near its intersection of Bundy Road that left one person dead.

At about 8:02 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male subject lying in the roadway with serious physical injuries. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit investigators determined that the victim was walking northbound across Chef Menteur Highway when he entered the inside westbound travel lane. The victim was then struck by multiple vehicles in oncoming traffic which fled the scene.

Investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing. No further details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
