NOPD Investigates Seventh District Homicide

Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a shooting that left an unknown man dead and a second victim wounded. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members. The offense occurred shortly after 7:45 p.m., at the intersection of South Laverne Street and Virgilian Street.

According to investigators, Seventh District officers responded to a call of an Aggravated Battery by Shooting and upon their arrival, officers located an unknown male suffering gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced the man dead on scene. A second male gunshot victim was found at the location and transported via EMS for treatment.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this offense and a motive.
