NOPD Investigates Seventh District Homicide

Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a double shooting that left an unknown woman dead and another woman injured. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. The offense occurred around 3:35 p.m., in the 7100 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

According to investigators, Seventh District officers responded to a call of an Aggravated Battery by Shooting and upon their arrival, officers located both women in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to their bodies. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced one of the victims dead on scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries and is in critical condition.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this offense and a motive.
