Suspect Arrested on Canal Street for Possessing Stolen Gun

The NOPD Eighth District arrested Neal Clark (DOB: 9/20/79) on September 28, 2017 after he was found to be in possession of a firearm reported as stolen from Slidell.

At approximately 10:32 p.m., Eighth District detectives James Terrell and Joel Smith conducted a traffic stop on blue 2005 GMC Yukon in the 1400 block of Canal Street. The driver, later identified as Neal Clark stated that he didn't have a driver's license at which time he provided officers a Louisiana state identification card. 

Detectives then asked Clark if he had any firearms in the vehicle at which time he replied no. However, detectives observed a firearm in plain view lying on the driver's floorboard . Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered Clark to be convicted of a felon and in possession of a handgun reported stolen from Slidell on April 29, 2017.

He was also arrested for driving with a suspended driver's license, improper lane change through an intersection and disregarding a red light.

He was arrested and booked accordingly into Central Lock-Up.
