NOPD VOWS Officers Arrest Two Suspects in Connection with Homicide on Paris Avenue

Today (September 27, 2017), members of the NOPD’s Violent Offenders Warrant Squad arrested Frederick Shelby (DOB: 04-26-1999) and Michael Baker (DOB: 08-23-2000) on armed robbery charges in connection with a homicide that occurred at the intersection of Paris Avenue at Lafreniere Street on June 27, 2017.

At about 5 p.m., Third District officers responded to the area and found a male victim lying in the area suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from her injuries.

As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives developed both Shelby and Baker as suspects in the incident.

Shelby and Baker were both arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center with attempted armed robbery.

In addition to the aforementioned charges, Baker was also arrested in connection with two additional incidents. Charges under those incidents include simple battery, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
