Looking for Ways to get involved with NOPD? The NOPD’s Mobile Crisis Unit is Seeking Volunteers

The NOPD Mobile Crisis Unit is in need of mental health technicians to volunteer their time to help individuals suffering from mental health illnesses in our community.

The NOPD’s Mobile Crisis Unit is a division of civilian volunteers who work in coordination with the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) to help assist and transport those persons who are possibly suffering from a mental illness including suicidal behavior.

NOPD’s Mobile Crisis Unit has been around since 1983 as a way to help NOPD officers on scene and offer services to those suffering from a mental disorder instead of taking those individuals to jail.

To qualify as a crisis technician, you must be 21 years or older, have a high school diploma or GED, have a current driver’s license and be willing to work two 6-hour shifts per month.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact NOPD Sgt. Ben Glaudi at 504-952-1482 or 504-658-6186 or by email bglaudi2@nola.gov
