McDonald's of New Orleans to launch officer of the month program Saturday

Tomorrow, (Oct. 1) McDonald’s of New Orleans will launch a new program to recognize NOPD officers every month. The Officer of the Month program will recognize NOPD officers who perform above and beyond the call of duty while on the job. As part of the award, the Bardell Co., a local McDonald's owner and operator, will award the winning officer with a $750 scholarship that the officer can use to participate in police training and leadership programs across the country.

The award will be announced during the Coffee with Cops event at the McDonald’s located at 711 Canal Street at 10:15 a.m.

The Bardell Co. is one of multiple local McDonald’s restaurant owners who partnered with the NOPD’s recruitment campaign by featuring recruitment advertisements on paper tray liners served to dine-in customers at dozens of restaurants across the New Orleans region.

Residents can enjoy a free cup of coffee on Saturday at four McDonald’s locations

A total of four McDonald’s locations in New Orleans will host the third Coffee with Cops event on Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., attendees will have an opportunity to meet with neighborhood patrol officers and enjoy a free cup of coffee. The popular community policing event is a public-private partnership that aims to bring together police officers and the communities they serve.

Participating McDonald’s locations include:

  • 3443 South Carrollton Avenue (Second District)
  •  3250 General DeGaulle Drive (Fourth District)
  • 2856 South Claiborne Avenue (Sixth District)
  • 711 Canal Street (Eighth District)
