NOPD Arrests Security Guard in Shoplifting Incident on Old Gentilly Road, Second Suspect Still At Large

The NOPD has arrested one of two suspects in a shoplifting incident in the 5000 block of Old Gentilly Road on September 13, 2016. Meanwhile, investigators are also seeking assistance from the public in locating the second suspect.

The reporting person told police that at about 5:15 p.m., he observed a subject on video surveillance taking cigarettes from behind the counter at the Big Easy Travel Plaza, located at 5000 Old Gentilly Road. Upon further review of the surveillance, the reporting person told police he observed that the security guard of the business assisted the subject and received a pack of the stolen cigarettes. Officers later arrived on scene and charged the guard, identified as Glenn Carpenter (DOB: 11-01-1961) with municipal principal to theft and municipal possession of stolen property.
