NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred today (September 4) in the 18000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
At about 5:33 a.m., Seventh District officers, Traffic Division officers and New Orleans Fire Department personnel responded to a call for a vehicle accident with injury in the area. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that a white Ford F-150 truck and a green Chevrolet Silverado truck were involved in a head-on collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Ford truck was transported to an area hospital via EMS for treatment.
Toxicology reports are pending and the investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and will release the identity of the victim upon completion of autopsy.
