The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Shawn Moore (DOB 05-26-2016) in connection with an incident on September 2, 2016 that involved armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

At about 9:15 a.m., Moore and his accomplice are believed to have jumped into the victim’s vehicle as he sat in a parking lot near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and America Street. The suspects then ordered the victim to drive to several ATMs in the Seventh District and withdraw money. The suspects then ordered the victim to drive around and they passed three subjects walking on Dwyer Road near Crowder Road. Moore is believed to have then leaned out of the window of the vehicle and fired several shots at the subjects with a handgun. After the victim pleaded for his life, the suspects let him exit the vehicle before they fled in the vehicle on Dwyer Road. The victim’s vehicle was recovered a short time later.

Detectives are working to identify the other suspect and the investigation is ongoing.

Armed Robbery

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
