UPDATE: Missing Juvenile Found Safe, Father Charged

UPDATE: Gianna Ward was returned in good health on Sept. 1, 2016 at about 3 p.m.

A warrant is on file for Glend Ford (DOB: 4/15/1974) on a charge of interfering with the custody of a child.

 

ORIGINAL RELEASE: NOPD needs the public’s assistance in locating a missing juvenile who is the victim of a parental kidnapping.

On August 31, 2016, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Glend Ford (DOB: 4/15/1974) took his daughter Gianna Ward (DOB: 10/5/2010) from the 3500 block of Monroe Street without permission of the child’s legal guardian of the child.

The guardian stated that she does not believe Gianna Ward is in any danger but told NOPD that Ford stated the police will have to kill him to take her back.

Gianna Ward is a 5-year-old black female described as being about 4’ tall, weighing 57 pounds and she has long hair in plats with two long plats on the sides. She was last seen wearing a peach shirt with white lace trim, a peach skort with white lace trim and peach sandals.

Glend Ford is described as a black male, about 6’2” tall, weighing 170 pounds with a low haircut. He was wearing a beige Polo style shirt and faded blue jeans, and he was last seen driving a gray 2003 or 2004 Infinity sedan with unknown plates.
