The NOPD is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred this evening (October 8, 2025) near the intersection of Tulane Avenue and South Scott Street, in the First District.

At about 7:53 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult white male subject lying in the roadway. New Orleans EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

Upon further investigation, NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit investigators determined that the victim was walking lakebound across Tulane Avenue when a Toyota Camry came to a stop in front of the victim. An oncoming Ford Explorer attempted to change lanes to pass the Camry and struck the victim.

The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators in the incident. No other injuries were reported.

No additional information is currently available. Any identification of the victim in this incident would be provided by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office upon completion of autopsy.
