The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (October 1, 2025) in the 7000 block of West Renaissance Court, in the Seventh District.

At about 5:43 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 12900 block of Ashland Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a sedan having crashed into a parked vehicle in front of a residence. The driver of the sedan, an adult male, was found inside the vehicle and to have sustained a gunshot wound(s). The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Through further investigation, it was determined that a shooting involving the victim had occurred nearby in the 7000 block of West Renaissance Court prior to the vehicle crash.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
