NOPD Announces Preliminary Crime Statistics for September 28-October 4, 2025

The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analytics Unit for the period of September 28-October 4, 2025.

Notable arrests made

During the listed week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):

  • On September 30, the NOPD arrested Mekhi Jarius Andry (black male, DOB: 02-13-2025) and Dontrell Bradley (black male, DOB; 11-18-2005) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 28 in the 200 block of Bourbon Street. Andry was booked on one count of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder. Upon release from medical care, Bradley was booked with one count of negligent discharge of a firearm, one count of manslaughter and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
  • On October 2, the NOPD arrested Mark Pohlen (white male, DOB: 01-15-1963) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred that same evening in the 3900 block of General Taylor Street. Pohlen was booked on one count of second-degree murder.
  • On October 3, the NOPD arrested Walita Eugene (black female, DOB: 04-18-1987) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred that same day in the 4300 block of Louisa Drive. Eugene was booked on one count of second-degree murder.

Gun arrests (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and sub-items)

Year to date, the NOPD has made 209 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm. This is a 41-percent decrease compared to 354 arrests made during the same period in 2024.

Gun seizures

Additionally, as of September 29, the NOPD in 2025 had seized 1,392 firearms in criminal investigations, a 19-percent decrease compared to 1,721 such seizures made during the same period in 2024.
