The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analytics Unit for the period of October 5-11, 2025.

Notable arrests made
During the listed week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):
- On October 6, the NOPD arrested Robert Shavers (black male, DOB: 03-17-1979) in connection with multiple business burglary incidents in the Fifth District. Incidents connected to this arrest include locations in the 1300 block of Alvar Street, the 4000 and 4100 blocks of St. Claude Avenue and in the 4200 block of North Derbigny Streets. Shavers was booked on five charges of simple burglary of a business.
- On October 8, the NOPD arrested Aaron Brown (black male, DOB: 03-30-1990) and Mason Rucker (black male, DOB: 12-19-1993) in is investigation of a homicide that occurred that day at the intersection of Gravier Street and Loyola Avenue. Both Brown and Rucker were booked on one count each of manslaughter.
- On October 10, members of the U.S. Marshals arrested Aaron C. Bierria (black male, DOB: 06-28-1983) in the NOPD’s investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 26, 2025, in the 1500 block of North Claiborne Avenue. Bierria was arrested in Jefferson Parish as a fugitive from Orleans Parish, where he was subsequently booked on one count of second-degree murder.
Gun arrests (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and sub-items)
Year to date, the NOPD has made 213 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm. This is a 40-percent decrease compared to 357 arrests made during the same period in 2024.
Gun seizures
Additionally, as of October 6, the NOPD in 2025 had seized 1,439 firearms in criminal investigations, an 18-percent decrease compared to 1,754 such seizures made during the same period in 2024.
