NOPD Arrests Wanted Subject in Seventh District After Brief Standoff

The NOPD arrested a subject wanted in North Texas and New Orleans after a brief standoff with NOPD Special Operations Division officers in the Seventh District this morning.

On October 10, 2024, NOPD received information that Devain Washington (Black Male, DOB: 9/15/2000) was reportedly at a residence in the 6000 block of Wales Street.

As officers attempted to serve the arrest warrant around 7:52 a.m., Washington barricaded himself inside of a residence. A SWAT roll was declared, but Washington surrendered without incident several minutes later.

Washington is wanted in North Texas on charges of Aggravated Assault. He was also wanted in New Orleans on a Court Capias for 2021 firearms charges.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
