NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (October 12, 2021) in the 2100 block of Conti Street that left one victim dead and a second injured.

At about 10:40 a.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a male down at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male lying on the sidewalk and having sustained a gunshot wound(s).

A second victim was found inside a nearby residence and having sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victims were both transported via EMS to a local hospital, where the first victim was declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
