WANTED: NOPD Seeking Suspect in Purse Snatching on Elysian Fields Avenue

The NOPD is seeking to locate and identify a suspect believed to be responsible for a purse snatching incident which occurred in the 900 block of Elysian Fields Avenue on October 4, 2018.

At about 8:21 p.m., the victim was reportedly approached from the rear by the pictured unknown black male while in the 900 block of Elysian Fields Avenue. The subject allegedly grabbed the victim’s backpack and ripped it off of her, popping one of the straps. The subject then fled south on Elysian Fields Avenue, east on Burgundy Street and finally south on Spain Street, where he abandoned the victim’s property.

The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build and brown complexion, as well as a short haircut, mustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a light colored t-shirt, light colored baseball cap, dark colored pants and white shoes. Subject was seen riding the above pictured white cruiser bicycle.
