NOPD Investigating Double Homicide on Wales Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal double shooting that occurred today (October 9, 2018) in the 14000 block of Wales Street.

At about 1:07 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting involving two victims in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 23-year-old male lying in the doorway of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also learned that a second victim in this incident – a 22-year-old female – was transported to an area hospital via EMS with apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The victim later died at the hospital.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. No additional information is available for release at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will officially identify and release the names of the victims in this incident, pending autopsy and notification of family.
